Majime Karate Jutsu (Open Circle Fighting Method)

Torite is an Okinawan martial art using the principles of energy disruption strikes, joint-locking and grappling. Developed to a high degree by practitioners within Open Circle Institute, Torite is much more combat orientated than conventional popular martial arts. Torite's efficiency, effectiveness and considerable field-testing mean that it is becoming increasingly popular with police and special forces, and security services world-wide.

At Teesside Dragon  we have created a series of pair techniques that illustrate and practice these principles, and have labeled them as Majime Karate Jutsu. They are typical of the approach shown in the Open Circle Fighting Method (OCFM)

Principles
All our techniques must comply with the following 3 escalating principles:
1) The techniques must be combat effective, even in the absence of 2) & 3)
2) Striking pressure points dramatically increases the effectiveness of the technique.
3) Using 'players to the game', and understanding TCM theories, further increases the effectiveness and power, and allows for variation and follow-ups.

Over the years of development of our close-quarter techniques and principles we have searched for a unifying drill that allows for single-person practise of the movements and energetics, much as a kata distils the essence of an Okinawan or Japanese karate system. Following repeated study with Grandmaster Richard Mooney we have adopted the 'circle-walking' of the Cheng Style Ba Gua form as our drill.
